SPRING HILL

SPRING HILL

This Vermont farmstead was already beautiful with its rolling green hills and stacked stone walls. No small move could compete with such an expanse of green. It called for large scale gestures like these colorful English-styled gardens, with their vibrant hues and ebullient personalities. In other words, a riotous display of raging perennial color was in order. In a place where winter lasts five to six months, these plants needed to bloom throughout the summer and a zone 4 USDA hardiness was essential. I particularly loved the combination of the blue Nepeta ‘Souvenir d’Andre Chaudron,’ Stachys ‘Hummelo',’ and multitoned Achillea in this garden.
